Ducab acquires Oman’s National Cable Factory in to boost industrial growth

The deal gives Ducab a production base in the southern port city of Salalah, a strategic gateway to international markets

The UAE’s Ducab Group has acquired Oman’s National Cable Factory (NCF), expanding its regional footprint as the Gulf neighbours step up efforts to diversify their economies beyond oil and strengthen cross-border industrial supply chains.

The deal, announced on Tuesday, gives the Dubai-based cable manufacturer a production base in the southern port city of Salalah, a strategic gateway to international markets.

Ducab said in a statement that the acquisition will boost Oman’s industrial ambitions by creating local value, raising manufacturing standards and supporting exports in energy infrastructure.

“Ducab Group’s investment in Oman is a testament to the shared vision of both nations to build resilient, diversified economies through industrial innovation,” said chief executive Gert Hoefman, calling the move part of the company’s plan to expand globally while deepening regional integration.

Charles Edouard Mellagui, CEO of Ducab Cables, said the transaction would support rising UAE-Oman trade flows. “Our acquisition of National Cable Factory marks a strategic milestone and a proud moment for the industrial sectors of both nations,” he said. “This step reinforces Ducab’s commitment to driving industrial growth and innovation across the Gulf.”

The UAE is Oman’s largest trading partner worldwide, accounting for more than 40 per cent of the sultanate’s imports and serving as the gateway for about one-fifth of its exports. Non-oil trade between the two countries rose 9.8 per cent in 2024 to AED 56.2 billion ($15.3 billion), according to official figures.

Founded in 1979, Ducab has grown into one of the Middle East’s leading energy solutions providers, supplying cables, conductors and metal products to customers in more than 50 countries.

The company said the NCF acquisition would allow it to deliver faster, more customised solutions and enhance the resilience of Gulf supply chains as the region accelerates investment in non-oil industries.
