ACWA Power has signed a strategic partnership with Indonesia’s state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina to jointly develop multi-billion-dollar power generation and water desalination projects across the country.
The two companies will jointly develop 500 megawatts (MW) of clean energy projects, including new electricity tenders, hydrogen production, and utility operations and maintenance services.
ACWA Power has also signed a separate agreement with Indonesia’s Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara Indonesia) to explore potential investments in the country’s renewable energy, gas-to-power, green hydrogen, and water desalination sectors.
The two deal signings form a cornerstone of Indonesia’s plan to derive 34% of its power from renewable sources by 2034, rising to 87% by 2060, and mark a deepening of ties between Saudi and Indonesian energy ambitions.
“ACWA Power is proud to support Indonesia’s long-term energy and water security goals,” said Raad Al Saady, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ACWA Power. “These agreements reflect our growing commitment to international collaboration in energy transition.”
Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the collaboration channels state resources into “high-impact ventures” with global players, catalysing sustainable growth while attracting foreign capital.
Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri added that the strategic pact aligns with the company’s dual mission of enhancing national energy security and advancing a low-carbon economy.
ACWA Power, which operates across 12 countries, is majority-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and is a global leader in water desalination, utility-scale renewables, and green hydrogen development.
