Ducab Group, the UAE-based energy solutions and cable manufacturing giant, has been awarded a high-profile contract to supply critical power cabling for the Acute Hospital project in Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Development Area, one of the city’s largest and most technologically advanced healthcare facilities under construction.
Slated for completion by end-2026, the 2,400-bed government-led hospital will feature 37 operating theatres and serve as a critical component of the region’s growing healthcare network. The project responds to rising demand for medical services in Kowloon, driven by population growth and demographic shifts.
Under the contract, Ducab will supply over 40,000 kilometres of XL-LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) building wires and 15,000 kilometres of FLAM BICC 1 fire-resistant cables, engineered to withstand extreme conditions and maintain circuit integrity in emergency situations.
“Our contribution to the Kai Tak Hospital project reflects Ducab’s commitment to delivering safety-first, performance-critical solutions for essential infrastructure,” said Charles Edouard Mellagui, CEO of Ducab Cables Business. “This is a key milestone in our expanding presence across Asia’s healthcare and infrastructure sectors.”
In addition to the fire-rated cables, Ducab is also supplying armored BS 6724-compliant LSZH cables and FLAM BICC 6 cables, specially designed to guarantee operational continuity during fires—an imperative for hospitals reliant on uninterrupted power to sustain life-saving equipment and systems.
The contract further underlines Ducab’s export reach and manufacturing excellence. The company, which now exports to over 75 countries, derives more than 60% of its total output from overseas markets. Its production facilities meet stringent global certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, ensuring consistent quality across all geographies.
Ducab showcased the project and its broader energy technology portfolio at Build4Asia 2025, the region’s leading architecture, electrical engineering, and security technology exhibition, held in Hong Kong. The event served as a platform to highlight its strategic focus on mission-critical applications—from hospitals and data centres to transport and defence.
