Saudi-based Al-Babtain Power and Telecommunication Co. has been awarded a SAR 622 million ($165.8 million) contract by Saudi Services for Electromechanical Works (SSEM) for the supply of steel transmission towers, the company announced on Sunday.
Under the agreement, Al-Babtain will design, test, manufacture, and supply steel towers for a 500kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) as part of the construction of the New 500kV LCC HVDC OHTL for the COA-SOA Interconnection Link (Portion III).
The project aims to enhance grid connectivity and bolster electricity transmission infrastructure in the Kingdom. The contract duration is set for 24 months.
The deal highlights Al-Babtain’s growing footprint in the region’s power transmission sector.
It follows a $104 million contract the company secured earlier with India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the supply of steel towers.
Saudi Arabia is accelerating investments in its power infrastructure as it seeks to modernize its electricity grid and expand transmission networks to meet rising demand. The latest contract aligns with the country’s broader Vision 2030 initiative, which prioritizes energy security and infrastructure resilience.
Neither Al-Babtain nor SSEM provided further details on the project timeline or financing arrangements.
