Press Release: ENEC, (Emirates Nuclear Energy Company), has unveiled a dynamic new brand identity that underscores its evolution as a strategic national player for clean energy security, with plans to become a leading global nuclear energy company. This transformation, revealed at an exclusive launch event, underscores ENEC’s commitment to harnessing nuclear energy’s full value to drive clean energy security.

The rebranding comes at a significant period following ENEC’s transformation of the UAE power sector with a new source of clean, baseload electricity that has significantly boosted national energy security. Today, and with its new brand, ENEC steps into its new role as an investor, developer and generator of clean electricity on the global stage, focusing on growth, investment in new nuclear technologies, and partnerships with local and international high- tech companies.

Additionally, ENEC is focusing on realizing the full value of nuclear energy for the nation through the co-generation of heat, steam, ammonia and hydrogen, and strategic clean energy partnerships, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for nuclear energy innovation. This new identity introduces a cohesive and streamlined brand for ENEC, aligning with its mission to drive global decarbonisation efforts and cement ENEC’s trajectory as a global leader in nuclear energy.

The identity unifies the ENEC brand with its JV subsidiary brands. Nawah Energy Company is now called ENEC Operations and Barakah One Company is called ENEC Commercial.

H.E. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ENEC said: “The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant is generating 40TWh of power, equal to 25% of the UAE’s electricity needs, and marking a significant contribution to the nation’s energy portfolio. This represents the largest single decarbonization effort in UAE history, directly preventing 22.4 million tons of carbon emissions annually. However, this is only the beginning. While ENEC’s focus remains on operational quality and safety, we now look towards expanding our horizons in nuclear energy deployment. To date, we have successfully developed and brought four reactors online, demonstrating our ability to execute large-scale nuclear projects within a highly efficient timeline.

As we are entering a new era which reflects our ambitions for the future. Our efforts will center on accelerating the deployment of nuclear energy and associated technologies, not only within the UAE but also on a global scale. By sharing our expertise and technical know-how, we aim to provide a model for other nations seeking to integrate nuclear energy as a clean, secure, and reliable source of baseload electricity. Our experience serves as a concrete example of how nuclear energy can play a pivotal role in meeting global decarbonization targets and achieving Net Zero by 2050.”

Al Hammadi added:” As we continue to increase the share of nuclear energy in the global energy mix, we are also driving innovation in advanced reactor technologies, with the goal of enhancing both efficiency and sustainability. Our commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the development of safe, reliable energy systems will support the UAE’s ambition to remain at the forefront of global energy transition efforts.”

ENEC’s rebrand is taking place at a time of renewed support and strong momentum in the global nuclear industry, with many countries, banks and energy intensive and heavy industry players recognizing the significant role nuclear energy can play in generating abundant amount of secure electricity 24/7. With global power demand set to double by 2050 and the power demand for data centres alone to equal the annual power demand of Japan by 2026, 25 nations and 14 banks have stated their support to triple global nuclear energy capacity by 2050.

ENEC is prepared to support this wave of global growth by leveraging its proven capabilities to build a regional hub and supply chain for nuclear energy in the UAE.

The four units of the Barakah Plant prevent 24.4 million tons of carbon emissions every year.  The clean electricity produced by Barakah Plant is responsible for achieving 24% of the UAE’s 2030 National Determined Contributions (NDCs) to decarbonization.

The UAE is leading the way in recognizing the true value of nuclear energy for clean, carbon-free baseload electricity. Abu Dhabi was the first market globally to include nuclear energy as part of its Clean Electricity Certificates program, and the Barakah plant project is the first nuclear project in the Middle East and Asia regions to achieve Green Loan Status.
